About Alphabet Spin Wheel

Children learn the alphabet in order and are then surprised by letters out of order, because what they have memorised is a sequence rather than twenty-six separate shapes. A spinning wheel breaks the sequence deliberately: the letter that comes up is unpredictable, so a child has to recognise it rather than work out where it falls.

What this game teaches

  • Recognising letters out of alphabetical order
  • Hearing the letter name spoken clearly
  • Connecting each letter to an example word
  • Collecting and tracking progress across all twenty-six letters
  • Sustained attention through repeated play

How to play

  1. Tap Spin to send the wheel round, or Quick Spin for a faster turn.
  2. The wheel stops on a letter.
  3. Listen to the letter and its example word.
  4. Collect all twenty-six letters to complete the set.

Before you start

A child should have met the alphabet in order first. This game tests recognition, which comes after familiarity.

For teachers

The collection counter gives children a reason to keep going and gives you a quick view of coverage. Switch between English and Gujarati wheels to work on both alphabets with the same mechanic.

For parents

Ask your child to name the letter before the audio plays. Guessing first and checking second is what builds recognition; listening first only builds recall.
